Onyx is one of the many forms of quartz found it nature. It is further classified as a microcrystalline for of quartz in that the individual quartz crystals cannot be seen by the naked eye, or even under moderate magnification. Onyx is found in a wide range of colors including black, reddish brown Onyx (Sardonyx), red, blue, green, yellow and white.
